Gathering as children of God

Creative Minds

There is a room to the north of the church nursery that is bearing a new name. This room is now called “Creative Minds”. This room is the new home of the Eat, Pray, Love banner group and the Prayer Shawl Ministry. It is open for any group that finds this room inviting for their activity. The Eat, Pray, Love group is enjoying the new space as they begin work on new Christmas banners. We want to thank Bob Kress and John Henry who put their creative minds together to build a new storage unit for the church banners. Also, thank you, Paul, for cleaning the old Bunn coffeemaker for use in this room. Furniture has been moved around, thanks to Dick Attleson and Bob Kress, and shelves have been placed for storage. We were pleased to find a beautiful woven art piece that was made by Joanne Simmonds that is now hanging on a wall. Please feel free to join any of these groups or be a “Creative Mind” and start a new endeavor.

Joyful Ringers

Hand Bells and Chimes

Our bell choir, the Joyful Ringers, will start rehearsals on Monday, August 24, at 5:30 pm in the Friendship Room. Rehearsals are starting a little earlier this year since the bell choir will not be practicing in January or February of 2016.

The Joyful Ringers practice each Monday, August 24 through April. Practice time is 5:30 pm in the Friendship room. All are welcome to sit in on our practice. Being a substitute can give you a chance to try playing the bells and become a member of the Joyful Ringers. Before bell choir started rehearsals this fall, some of us thought we should go through the bell closet and do a little house cleaning. We were excited to find information about the purchase of the bells and who has participated in the program from the beginning.

"Shawls ... made for centuries universal  and embracing,
symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally  loving, God.
They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give  solace,
mother, hug, shelter and beautify.
Those who have received these shawls have  been
uplifted and affirmed, as if given wings  to
fly above their troubles..."

Choir of the Kirk 2015

Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach

Choir of the Kirk meets Wednesday evenings to rehearse, converse, and wash away the dust of everyday life. Members have a wide range of musical backgrounds, but all share a love of singing, and enjoy the fellowship found in making music together. Director, Dennis Lee, consistently selects choral literature that is engaging and meaningful. Come and wash away the dust of everyday life on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in the choir loft. All are welcome!

A song will outlive all sermons in the memory.  ~Henry Giles

Eat, Pray, Love

Stewardship Banner

“You must stop looking at the world through your head.

You must look through your heart, instead.
That way, you will know God."

Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love

We are all on a mission to understand ourselves, to have a group of friends that will support us through difficult times and celebrate the joys of God's blessing. Eat, Pray, Love, is such a group that is open to any woman seeking God's presence through trusted friends. Those in the group are all open to each other, by sharing our joys and sorrows.
